The model of a Star Wars X-wing starfighter - an original prop used in filming the original Star Wars movie A New Hope - has sold for a record-setting $3.135 million at a Heritage Auction in Dallas, Texas over the weekend.

The model X-wing was a piece from the collection of the late Oscar-nominated VFX specialist and model maker Greg Jein (Star Trek movies, Avatar, Oblivion, Interstellar), which had been thought lost for decades before turning up in one of the boxes found Jein's garage, following his death in May of 2022.

"Heritage just set the record for the most expensive Star Wars screen-used prop sold at auction," Joe Maddalena, exec vp Hollywood/entertainment memorabilia at Heritage Auctions, said in a statement to THR. "The worldwide response to the Greg Jein collections has been outstanding, a true testament to Greg and all he accomplished as visual effects artist and collector."

According to specs of the model provided at auction, this model X-wing was built by Industrial Light & Magic to be flown by "Red Leader" (or "Red One") in the climatic space dogfight between the Rebel Alliance and The Empire's Death Star base. The model is "one of just four 'hero' filming miniatures with articulating servo-controlled wings and lights, used for close-up shots of the dogfight during the final battle, including the iconic trench run sequence.

VFX historian Gene Kozicki explained to THR just how significant this particular Star Wars prop really is: "This model has not been displayed or modified since it left ILM. For those of us that grew up in the '70s or '80s, and those of us that work in visual effects, this model is as significant a find as the ruby red slippers or the Maltese Falcon."

He added that this particular X-wing model had become more than a mystery when it went missing: it became a myth of the industry: "It became something of a mythical 'white whale' -- the missing Star Wars X-wing."

Obviously these days Star Wars Memorabilia is a major source of value and wealth. Auctions of props, costumes, artwork, and other elements of various Star Wars productions routinely sell for high price at auction, and/or end up in the collections of passionate (read: wealthy) collectors. The record-setting price for this model X-wing makes sense given the 'mythical' status it earned during its years being lost.

Released in December of 1997, James Cameron's iconic film Titanic celebrated its 25th anniversary last year, but the party for one of the highest grossing films of all-time rolls on. Today, the film finally arrived on 4K Ultra HD / Digital Blu-ray, and pre-orders are available here at Walmart and here on Amazon now. It's set to arrive on December 5th, which makes it the perfect holiday gift for any fan that remembers how much of a phenomenon this film was back in the day.

Released in 1997, Titanic held the record for the all-time global box office and is currently the fourth-highest-grossing film worldwide behind two other James Cameron films - Avatar and its sequel Avatar: The Way of Water. Titanic won a record 11 Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing, Best Art Direction-Set Direction, Best Costume Design, Best Original Dramatic Score, Best Original Song, Best Sound, Best Sound Effects Editing and Best Visual Effects.

The Titanic 4K Blu-ray also features over 15 hours of bonus content, including a new documentary entitled Titanic: Stories from the Heart. Apparently, it will include new interviews with James Cameron, Jon Landau, and Kate Winslet. There will also be a new fan art gallery, 3 audio commentaries, and more.

Now the only question is, will this Titanic superfan ever make the 4K UHD upgrade?

The Titanic Door Debate Rages On

In a recent special Titanic: 25 Years Later With James Cameron, Cameron explores a variety of scenarios that weren't featured in the film, and the director confirmed that had Rose given Jack her lifejacket to help insulate him, he possibly could have survived, but there are "a lot of variables."

Fans initially claimed that the piece of debris Rose floated on had room for Jack to also fit on it, though the special confirms that, thanks to testing with the help of stunt performers, the piece of wood might have been big enough but wouldn't have enough buoyancy to support the both of them to keep them out of the freezing water.

A second test saw the stunt people being able to keep just their upper halves out of the water, which would have kept their vital organs warmer, and while they could have survived for hours, it's unknown if that could have taken them to rescue. However, taking into account the physically exhausting journey the pair experienced to get to that point, it seems unlikely they would have the physical endurance to maintain their strength long enough.

The final test saw Rose give Jack her lifejacket, and with her having on a heavier outfit, it's possible that the pair might have both survived the situation.

"He's stabilized," Cameron shared in a clip from the special. "He got into a place where if we projected that out, he just might've made it until the lifeboat got there. Jack might've lived, but there's a lot of variables. I think his thought process was, 'I'm not going to do one thing that jeopardized her,' and that's 100 percent in character."

Horror fans loved the 2021 film The Black Phone, including ComicBook.com's Charlie Ridgely who gave the movie a 4 out of 5 and called it a "killer thriller" that "grabs your attention and never lets go." In the film, the serial kidnapper/killer known as "The Grabber" is played by Ethan Hawke, and if there's one thing we all know about horror films, it's that combining a good performance with a cool mask equals success. Will The Black Phone Get a Sequel?

Speaking with ComicBook.com about a sequel to The Black Phone, director Scott Derrickson confirmed, "It's possible. It's not a definite thing, but if it does become definite, you'll be the first to hear." As far as the importance of Hawke to the experience, Derrickson added, "I can tell you this much, I wouldn't make a Black Phone sequel without Ethan. I don't think there'd be any point in doing that."

Joe Hill similarly pointed out how the mask worn by The Grabber would be a significant fixture of any future films.

"There have been some really, really good conversations about a sequel. And the thing is, as soon as I saw the mask, which was designed by Tom Savini and Jason Baker, as soon as I saw the mask I thought, 'If this film is a hit, there'll be a sequel,' because the mask is so iconic," Hill admitted to ComicBook.com in 2022 about a sequel. "It is like Freddy Krueger's glove, it is like Michael Myers' mask, it is this thing where it's the imagery, iconic imagery, that haunts people's sleep. And, look, in horror, guys like Jason Voorhees and Freddy Krueger, and Frankenstein, and Dracula, none of these guys stay buried. They all claw their way out of the grave for a sequel and then a threequel."

He continued, "There have been talks about how to do a sequel that wouldn't suck. How to do a sequel that doesn't cheapen the film that came before, that's still scary, that's still intense, that feels organic. And those conversations have been pretty good. But if I were to provide any details, Scott and [writer C. Robert] Cargill would lock me in the basement in the film, and that's it. And the phone doesn't work. As you know, the phone doesn't work. I can't call anyone to get out. So I would decline to offer any real granular details about the possible sequel."

The Walt Disney company officially celebrates its 100th birthday today, October 16th, but the party has raged on since the beginning of 2023 with an endless amount of merch ranging from apparel to Funko Pops to LEGO sets. One of the biggest items released thus far was the ridiculously massive Disney Legacy Animated Film Collection Blu-ray box set. Despite also having a massive price tag, the set was recently out of stock. However, it's back for Disney's birthday, and everything you need to know can be found below.

The set will contain 100 animated films from Disney, Walt Disney Animation Studios, and Pixar (titles listed below) bundled together in a self-standing, hardbound, three-volume set that "unfolds into your own storybook" with original theatrical poster art. It will also include digital codes for each movie, a collectible lithograph from Disney Animation's new musical comedy Wish, a collectible crystal Mickey ears hat with exclusive Disney 100 engraving, and a numbered certificate of authenticity.

Pre-orders for the set are priced at an eye-watering, bowel-shaking, $1500 here at Walmart as an exclusive. The price is clearly to steep for many, but this is an extremely limited edition release, so expect collectors to resell it for twice as much after they sell out. That said, you can probably buy all of the Blu-rays cheaper individually and Disney is beginning to roll out 4K versions of these films, but if you're looking for a bundle deal then this set isn't for you.

Today, they're adding Ouroboros aka O.B., which is especially exciting for anyone that's been following Ke Huy Quan's career resurgence. There was a a bit of a gap between his performance as Short Round in Indiana Jones to his Oscar-winning role in Everything Everywhere all at Once, but now he's one of the hottest actors in Hollywood so Marvel came a-calling.

How Ke Huy Quan Joined Loki:

Loki executive producer Kevin Wright recently shared with Variety the story of how Quan was cast as O.B.

"We were in London, so I had at least some version of our scripts. The way the process works, they're always being rewritten, but O.B. was in there, and his introduction scene was almost exactly as originally written," Wright explained. "I would like to say it was in early spring, which was maybe just two months before we started shooting. We were casting, and Everything Everywhere All at Once was playing in L.A. and in New York, but it hadn't gone nationwide yet. I think it was going the very next week. We had gotten a call from our casting director who said, 'Hey, I'm about to put together a list for O.B. - just initial thoughts. But before I do that, I really think you guys should meet Ke, and I think it should be Ke. I think you guys should meet with him quick, because probably by Monday, he's going to have a lot of offers for different things.'

"So that Friday, myself, Justin, and Aaron, two of our directors, had gotten on a Zoom with Ke. We pitched him the show and this character. We shared that introduction scene with him and maybe the full script. And then we called in the big guns that Monday; Kevin Feige got on the phone with him and said, 'Ke, I know you read the script. I know you talked to the guys. We really think you should do this. I really want you to join the Marvel family.' And he had already made up his mind over the weekend. It was like, 'I'm there. I've been a huge fan of this for a long time.'"

Will Loki Get a Season 3?

In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Loki producer Kevin Wright addressed the possibility of whether or not the show could end up getting a third season -- and teased that either way, the narrative of the show will continue.

"We are certainly thinking about how we can continue to tell TVA and Loki-based stories," Wright revealed. "What I would say is season one and season two were always conceived as two chapters of the same book. We want to close this book and I think there's a lot more books on the shelf, though."

What is Loki Season 2 about?

Loki Season 2 on Disney+ continues Loki's redemptive adventures across the multiverse after his death in Avengers: Infinity War and escape from time in Avengers: Endgame. After failing to stop Sylvie, one of Loki's variants, from killing He Who Remains, a Kang variant who had been preserving the Sacred Timeline through the Time Variance Authority (TVA), Loki must now reckon with the recreated multiverse. According to Marvel Studios' official synopsis, "Loki Season 2 picks up in the aftermath of the shocking season finale when Loki finds himself in a battle for the soul of the Time Variance Authority. Along with Mobius, Hunter B-15 and a team of new and returning characters, Loki navigates an ever-expanding and increasingly dangerous multiverse in search of Sylvie, Judge Renslayer, Miss Minutes and the truth of what it means to possess free will and glorious purpose."

Marvel Studios fan-favorite Tom Hiddleston stars in Loki Season 2, returning as the titular God of Mischief for another round of time-traveling hijinx on Disney+ on October 6th. Loki is once again joined by Mobius (Owen Wilson) as the two attempt to keep the timelines intact. After the events of Season 1 saw his variant Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) kill He Who Remains and unleash the wrath of Kang the Conqueror upon the Multiverse, Loki must once again embark on an adventure to keep reality from collapsing. Loki was last seen in the post-credits scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, where he and Mobius were keeping tabs on one of Kang's mysterious variants. Loki Season 2 will continue the story of the Multiverse Saga in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Walmart's Collector Con event returns for New York Comic Con 2023 on Friday October 13th. New York Comic Con 2023 takes place from October 12th through the 15th, which puts it right in the middle of spooky season. Dungeons & Dragons' next novel could feature the future faces of the gaming franchise. This week, Penguin Random House announced The Fallbacks: Bound for Ruin, a new Dungeons & Dragons licensed novel written by Jaleigh Johnson. The new book is set in the Forgotten Realms, the most well-known of D&D's many campaign settings, but what was interesting is that the Fallbacks, the adventuring team that appears in the book, will also appear in "multiple publishing initiatives" in the future. In fact, the Fallbacks weren't created by Johnson, but rather the Dungeons & Dragons team.

Based on the description of the group and Wizards' plans for the characters, it appears that Wizards of the Coast is trying to create a new group of iconic characters, who represent specific classes and archetypes and appear in multiple books. Wizards notably used iconics in 3rd Edition Dungeons & Dragons rulebooks, but largely abandoned the use of the characters since. Pathfinder publisher Paizo notably uses its iconic characters as the faces for its fantasy roleplaying fantasy, with its iconic characters appearing in comics, novels, and even video games.

Johnson is no stranger to the Dungeons & Dragons franchise, having written The Road to Neverwinter tie-in novel that provided the heroes of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves with an origin story. She's also a veteran writer that has worked with plenty of licensed franchises and original work and was a New York Times best-seller.

Manga is becoming a hot ticket item in North America and the world over, with the coronavirus pandemic helping to boost sales of the publications to new heights. Even when the quarantines came to an end, manga sales have remained at high levels as readers continue to clamor for some of the biggest and brightest examples of the stories out of Japan. Now, Barnes & Noble is offering quite a few manga stories as a part of a sale that lets customers "buy one, get one free".

The sale itself began on Barnes & Noble's website today, October 12th, and will only be available until October 15th later this week. The retailer has quite a few manga series on sale, including the likes of One Piece, Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, and Hunter x Hunter to name a few. The sale also includes some manga that have yet to receive anime adaptations, such as Kaiju No. 8 and Vagabond, letting readers get the jump for when/if they receive television series of their own. With manga available both in physical and digital copies, the evolution of technology has allowed readers all over the world to check out titles while increasing overall sales for the medium in turn.

Barnes & Noble has been selling books, graphic novels, and manga since it first hit the scene all the way back in 1886 and it looks as though it won't be stopping any time soon. Even with more media going digital, the retailer is aiming to corner the market in a number of different areas when it comes to manga and beyond.

Aside from selling individual chapters when it comes to manga, some publishers have taken the opportunity to create their own subscription services. Publishers like Shueisha and Kodansha have launched their own respective platforms that allow readers to read quite a bit of manga for a monthly fee. As manga continues to get bigger, expect the ways to get your hands on various manga stories to increase as well.

After 20 years, The Venture Bros. animated series came to an end back in July with a feature film that's curiously dubbed The Venture Bros.: Radiant Is The Blood Of The Baboon Heart. Special features on The Venture Bros. movie Blu-ray include 'Hodgman and Friends' and 'Creator Commentary / Jackson and Doc Answer Fan Questions'. Reviews have been stellar, many calling it a fitting finale for the series even though this isn't the way that creators Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer wanted to go out.

The last time that Adult Swim fans had the opportunity to see the Venture Bros in action was during season seven, which aired on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim in 2018. In the previous season, the Venture Clan had made their way to the city, encountering some surprising villains, and heroes, as Dean and Hank found themselves growing up. On the villain side of the aisle, The Monarch took on the identity of the "Blue Morpho", pretending to be a crime fighter in an effort to get rid of the competition. The Seventh Season finale had quite a few bombshells to drop, but the biggest involved Hank deciding to vanish into the night, with footage for the upcoming film hinting at Brock searching for Rusty's son.

The Venture Bros. Movie Synopsis

"Doc's latest invention will either bankrupt Team Venture or launch them to new heights, as Hank searches for himself, Dean searches for Hank, The Monarch searches for answers, and a mysterious woman from their pasts threatens to bring their entire world crashing down on them."

In his ComicBook.com review, Nick Valdez called the movie "an emotional finale" that really stuck the landing.

"It's the kind of ending that leaves you wanting more. Not because the film itself was lacking, but because it leaves you with such a warm feeling that you don't want it to ever end. And for those who've watched The Venture Bros. for all this time, it'll likely hit a hundred times harder. "

A new GameStop sale has discounted a variety of PS4 games to as cheap as $9.99. Included in this collection of games ranging from $0.99 to $4.99 are some of the best RPGs on PS4. Of course, many of these games are older so it's not super surprising they are this cheap, but they are only this cheap because GameStop wants to move its inventory. We aren't far away from the time where physical copies of these various games will become increasingly rare, collector's items, and increase in price.

If you are unfamiliar, Nerf's LMTD line is focused on delivering high-end blasters based on iconic weapons from popular movies and video games. Needless to say, few video game weapons are more iconic than Halo's Needler. Features of the new battery-operated blaster (6AA) include a 10-dart Nerf Elite drum, flexible needles that light up when you grip the handle. When you fire the darts, the needles will go dark to simulate the weapon in the game.

It is never a bad time to embrace your Miraculous. A few years back, the world fell in love with France's top superheroes, and the Miraculous gang hasn't slowed down one bit. With new seasons and specials in the works, Ladybug is keeping busy with Cat Noir. And now, Puma has put the pair center stage with an official collab.

As you can see below, Puma x Miraculous is now live, and it is ready to give out all the cute kids' items. From beanies to sneakers, the official collection has whatever your tyke will want. There are shoes available for toddlers as well as children, and the shoes are too cute.

As for Miraculous, this collection is just the latest the series has nabbed. The animated superhero series has seen a definite bump in popularity this year thanks to its movie. Netflix released Ladybug and Cat Noir: The Movie to high praise this year, and there is more on the way for the show. Miraculous season five is still rolling out new episodes stateside, and a big special titled Miraculous World: Paris - Tales of Shadybug and Claw Noir will go live later this month.

There haven't quite been villains in Dragon Ball history, or anime history for that matter, like the Ginyu Force. First appearing on the Planet Namek as a part of Frieza's forces, Captain Ginyu, Recoome, Burter, Jeice, and Guldo each had their own unique abilities that made them a handful for the Z-Fighters. Now, fans will have the opportunity to own all five anime villains via a Funko Pop collection that sees them side-by-side once again.

The Ginyu Force was taken out in rapid succession when they tussled with the likes of Vegeta, Gohan, Krillin, and Goku on the Planet Namek, though it certainly wasn't an easy task for the Z-Fighters. Their power levels differed across the board, though Captain Ginyu sat on the top of the food chain thanks to both his overall strength and his ability to swap bodies with opponents. Captain Ginyu's power actually allowed him to survive long past the Planet Namek, making a comeback in Dragon Ball Super when Frieza was brought back from the dead. It seems unlikely that the Ginyu Force will make any future appearances in the shonen series now that they're all deceased, but that hasn't kept characters gone forever in the past.

The Ginyu Force Returns

The upcoming Funko Pops will allow Dragon Ball Z fans to purchase a Funko Pop for each individual member of the Ginyu Force, or collect them as a unit thanks to a Gamestop exclusive set. Even in death, the Ginyu Force have found some unique ways to make a comeback, with the anime actually seeing them fight against the likes of Yamcha, Chaotzu, and Tenshinhan quickly after their demise. While the five villains are far behind in terms of power level in comparison to the Z-Fighters, we've seen lower level villains get some big glow-ups.

In Dragon Ball Super's manga, Frieza has been the focal point for many readers thanks to his return during the Granolah The Survivor Arc. Released in 1999, the Dreamcast was the successor to the Sega Saturn. A number of major mistakes caused the Saturn to struggle against the Nintendo 64 and Sony PlayStation, but the Dreamcast seemed like a major step in the right direction. Sales for the console started strong in North America, and the platform received a number of games that would go on to become classics, including Sonic Adventure 2, Crazy Taxi, and Skies of Arcadia. Unfortunately, Sega could not contend with PlayStation and Nintendo, and the Dreamcast lasted less than two years on the market. Following the Dreamcast, Sega would go on to become a third party publisher, and the company had mixed feelings about seeing characters like Sonic on Nintendo systems at first!

These days, the Dreamcast is considered by many to be one of the greatest video game systems of all-time, and many of its best titles continue to receive new iterations on modern platforms. The idea of the Dreamcast getting a Hallmark holiday ornament would have been unthinkable 20 years ago, but it says a lot about how much perception of the system has changed. While the Dreamcast is long gone, its memory is not forgotten.

No Wednesday Funko Pop drop would be complete without new anime figures, and this week has been all about Dragon Ball Z. Where to Catch Up With Dragon Ball

Dragon Ball is currently planning to reveal a mysterious teaser for some kind of new project now in the works during a panel planned for New York Comic Con 2023 later this month. It's yet to be revealed what this new teaser will be for, but it will have some pretty big guests in attendance so fans are definitely curious as to what it could end up being for. As for the Dragon Ball Super manga, you can cach up with its latest chapters with Viz Media's digital Shonen Jump library as it works through the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero arc.

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero was actually the last anime project released for the franchise as there has yet to be any word on when it will be continuing. You can currently catch up with Dragon Ball Super and many of the Dragon Ball movies now streaming with Crunchyroll to get ready for what could be coming in the franchise next.

The Lord of the Rings arrived on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray back in 2020 with remasters overseen by Peter Jackson himself. Once considered a fashion faux pax, Crocs have made their comeback. From Shrek collaborations to Goth Crocs, the shoe brand is thriving in the year 2023. Now, it seems Crocs is ready to bring in new metrics, and we have its otaku interests to thank. After all, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is getting its own Crocs, and we've been given our first look at the line.

According to Foot Locker, the chain will be exclusively rolling out Crocs' Demon Slayer line in a matter of days. The shoes, which will be sold online and in stores, promise to show off your favorite anime slayer. And yes, the Crocs all come with special Jibbitz.

As you can see above, Crocs will be adapting its classic clogs for this Demon Slayer deal. Tanjiro, Nezuko, Inosuke, and Zenitsu are all up for this collab. Each shoe is patterned after its respective slayer, and they come with custom Jibbitz shoe charms. For instance, Nezuko comes with a charm of her box while Zenitsu's Crocs come complete with a sword hilt Jibbitz.

You can expect these Demon Slayer Crocs to sell out fast, and they will be going live in tandem with New York Comic Con. As you can see here, pre-sale pages for the shoes are already live as they will be sold online starting October 18th. The shoes are expected to retail for $70 USD at launch, so we wish you the best of luck in scoring a pair.

As for Demon Slayer itself, the franchise is plenty busy outside of this Crocs collab. The manga may be finished, but the Demon Slayer anime is already working on season four. When the ufotable show returns to the air, Demon Slayer will kickstart its Hashira Training arc, so Tanjiro better enjoy his vacation while he can.

Fans finally had to say goodbye to Indiana Jones earlier this year when Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny landed in theaters, but the adventure isn't entirely over, as fans will be able to add the movie to their physical media collection in December. In addition to the movie landing on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD, fans will also be able to track down exclusive releases at Best Buy and Walmart, which include a SteelBook version of the film and a limited-edition pin, respectively. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny lands on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on December 5th.

The film is described, "Harrison Ford returns to the role of the legendary hero archaeologist for this highly anticipated final installment of the iconic franchise -- a big, globe-trotting, rip-roaring cinematic adventure. Starring along with Ford are Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), Antonio Banderas (Puss in Boots: The Last Wish), John Rhys-Davies (Raiders of the Lost Ark), Shaunette Ren?e Wilson (Black Panther), Thomas Kretschmann (Das Boot), Toby Jones (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), Boyd Holbrook (Logan), Olivier Richters (Black Widow), Mads Mikkelsen (Doctor Strange), and newcomer Ethann Isidore. The acclaimed animated movie reboots the franchise with a new cast and a stylish new look, including groundbreaking animation techniques inspired by films like Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem arrives on 4K Ultra HD SteelBook(TM), 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray(TM) and DVD on December 12 from Paramount Home Entertainment!

Filmmaker Andr? ?vredal aimed to reimagine the age-old story of Dracula earlier this year with The Last Voyage of the Demeter, which specifically adapted one chapter from Bram Stoker's Dracula, with Bloody Disgusting confirming that the film's home video release will offer plenty for fans to sink their teeth into. The outlet detailed that, in addition to coming with a number of behind-the-scenes featurettes, the home video release will also include an alternate opening and deleted scenes that expand on the theatrically released narrative in frightening new ways. The Last Voyage of the Demeter lands on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD on October 17th.

Based on a single chilling chapter from Bram Stoker's classic novel Dracula, The Last Voyage of the Demeter tells the terrifying story of the merchant ship Demeter, which was chartered to carry private cargo -- fifty unmarked wooden crates -- from Carpathia to London. Strange events befall the doomed crew as they attempt to survive the ocean voyage, stalked each night by a merciless presence onboard the ship. When the Demeter finally arrives off the shores of England, it is a charred, derelict wreck. There is no trace of the crew.

The film stars Corey Hawkins (In the Heights, Straight Outta Compton) as Clemens, a doctor who joins the Demeter crew, Aisling Franciosi (Game of Thrones, The Nightingale) as an unwitting stowaway, Liam Cunningham (Game of Thrones, Clash of the Titans) as the ship's captain and David Dastmalchian (Dune, the Ant-Man franchise) as the Demeter's first mate.

The film also features Jon Jon Briones (Ratched, American Horror Story), Stefan Kapicic (Deadpool films, Better Call Saul), Nikolai Nikolaeff (Stranger Things, Bruised), and Javier Botet (IT films, Mama).

The Last Voyage of the Demeter hits Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD on October 17th. Pre-orders are live on Amazon now.

Tickets to the trick-or-treat attraction are limited each day, so fans will have to stop by the eBay or Funko booths at NYCC to see if they get lucky. One manifestation of that luck? Fans might receive one of the first-ever Freddy Funko silver coins (only 25 available all weekend). This convention-exclusive, ultra-limited run is a collectible collaboration by eBay, Funko and Apmex, the leading Precious Metals retailer in the U.S.

"I was at the company for 12 years, and then came back about a year ago and I was able to see just how committed we were to getting out and engaging with people in the [fan] community," Gene Cook, VP of Global Collectibles at eBay, told ComicBook.com's Jim Viscardi. "So I think it's critically important that we go to the shows."

"The team is incredibly customer oriented, and gets energy from being out of the office and actually engaging with people, but it's important to do it because we do care about this category and this space so deeply," Cook added. "I think frankly, it's important that we show up, that we signal that, and that it's an amazing opportunity for us to learn. I try not to overcomplicate how we decide what we focus on; try to keep things simple and really focus on the feedback that we're getting from our customers.

Over 22,000 people tuned into eBay's New York Comic Con eBay Live last year, where they sold the first-ever graded Funko Pop, and held a pre-sale for MetaZoo, a collectible card game. The company will be broadcasting multiple eBay Live events once again from the convention floor, including exclusive comic book variants, exclusive coins, and rare Funko Pops.

eBay Live is pretty much what it sounds like: video events in which both direct purchase and auction listings are promoted and listed, and fans can tune in, be entertained, and buy in. Funko, Greg Capullo, Tula Lotay, Alex Ross, and Bill Sienkiewicz are among comics and pop culture all-stars that are planning eBay Live events for the coming days. Some are hosted directly by eBay or by their affiliate companies. Others are just being hosted by retailers or other individual eBay sellers.

"I'm personally passionate about live commerce," Cook said. "Our approach is eBay Live and respectfully to what other people are doing, we feel like that is a perfect fit for eBay. eBay especially in collectibles, has been about social commerce from the very beginning. People came together on this platform, they actually made friends, they educated each other about this space. And so when we see people in a live stream, we're seeing the sellers sharing their passion and educating buyers or collectors about the special things that they found. We're seeing the interaction go back and forth. One of the things that we're most excited about is that eBay, thanks to our customers, has this giant, amazing, rich, diverse marketplace. So when a collector starts to discover a new passion in the stream, when that stream is over, there's this whole marketplace full of other buyers and other sellers, and an amazing inventory, so that they can further deepen their passion even after the stream ends."

According to numbers from eBay, the site's users searched "Funko" 13,000 times per hour in 2022, which makes their partnership an obvious one.

"We are thrilled to be Funko's preferred secondary marketplace, and what we really love when we get to work with a partner that closely, is what we can do with them to help make special things happen for the community, happen for our customers," Cook said. "We are excited that some rare Funkos are showing up in New York Comic Con in an eBay Live context. Obviously, we're excited about specific drops that we do with them, and building the best collector experience for the Funkos on the [eBay] platform. I would like to think that they respect the sincerity, the authenticity, the care that we have for their brand, and content, and we're partnering with them to help make it possible for them to engage with as many passionate enthusiasts as possible."

Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas celebrates its 30th anniversary this month, which means that you might see even more NBX than usual this Halloween. We have certainly seen a ton of new fashion options from Hot Topic and BoxLunch, who have launched wave after wave of awesome new designs. Will The Nightmare Before Christmas Get a Sequel?

Recently, NBX director Henry Selick spoke with Collider about the possibility of a sequel. Selick confirmed that a "sequel has come up several times." He explained, "Initially, they always said, 'But it will have to be CG.' And that was a non-starter for me. It certainly was for [producer] Tim Burton." Selick added making The Nightmare Before Christmas-themed shorts hasn't been discussed, but he could see Burton liking the idea.

"The idea of a short has never come up in the past... I think that Tim might be open to a short," the director detailed. "It would have to be so refreshing...such a new take to justify making a sequel, but a short makes good sense." Selick began to brainstorm, "A short that's about Zero... his viewpoint of the world or a day in his life ... I think that's a fantastic idea. And doable. I predict Tim would back [it] then."

Hocus Pocus Sequels

It took nearly 30 years, but Hocus Pocus did eventually spawn a sequel. 2022's Hocus Pocus 2 saw the return of Midler, Parker, Najimy, and Doug Jones, with the characters once again descending on the town of Salem. The film was released exclusively on Disney+ and quickly became the biggest original movie in the streamer's history.

Given the success of Hocus Pocus 2, it should come as no surprise that a third film is in the works at Disney. Hocus Pocus 3 will be bringing back the director and one of the writers from the hit sequel, with both Anne Fletcher and Jen D'Angelo reportedly returning for the next film.

As of right now, there has been no word as to which characters could appear in Hocus Pocus 3. The Sanderson Sisters are the cornerstone of the franchise, and Hocus Pocus 2 ended up establishing a new trio of main characters. There are also the teens from the original film that didn't make an appearance in the sequel, but could turn up for the third film.

The Nightmare Before Christmas and both Hocus Pocus films are available to stream on Disney+.

Bill Watterson, the cartoonist behind the beloved Calvin and Hobbes comic strip, has been almost completely off the radar since the last newspaper comic of the series ran in 1995. However, there are signs that this reclusive genius isn't completely content with living a normal life outside of the spotlight. In 2014 Watterson collaborated with Stephan Pastis as a guest artist on his Pearls Before Swine comic and co-wrote a book about the art of Richard Thompson. Now he's set to release The Mysteries, which is available to pre-order here on Amazon now ahead of tomorrow's October 10th release date.

What is The Mysteries you ask? Well, The Mysteries is a book by a mysterious man that's full of...mystery. Indeed, little is known about this "fable for grown-ups" that was written by Bill Watterson and illustrated by caricaturist John Kascht outside of the official description:

"In a fable for grown-ups by cartoonist Bill Watterson, a long-ago kingdom is afflicted with unexplainable calamities. Hoping to end the torment, the king dispatches his knights to discover the source of the mysterious events. Years later, a single battered knight returns."

And the mystery doesn't stop there:

"Watterson and caricaturist John Kascht worked together for several years in unusually close collaboration. Both artists abandoned their past ways of working, inventing images together that neither could anticipate."

This is interesting given that Watterson is known for his outstanding artwork, so his choice to collaborate with Kascht is likely due to the unique qualities that his work can bring to the story. Kascht's art has appeared in countless major newspapers and magazines, and you can see examples of what they produced for The Mysteries in the handful of sample pages that are posted in this article.

According to Ideastream Public Media the story of the book centers around "our current climate crisis" and "our collective anxiety about the environment", which makes sense when you plug it into the official description. The article also notes that no pre-release copies were made available, so very few people know exactly what to expect. That said, many fans of Calvin and Hobbes would happily plunk down money sight unseen for anything that Bill Watterson does. If you are one of those fans, you can reserve your copy here on Amazon now and unravel this mystery when it arrives on your doorstep this week.

One of the best games of 2022, and thus one of the best Xbox Series X games of 2022, has been reduced by $45, making it $15 rather than $60. The deal comes the way of GameStop, and unlike some GameStop deals this is for a brand-new copy of said game, not a pre-owned copy of the game. This is the cheapest we've seen not just the game on GameStop, but in general, as it's not even a year old yet.

The mystery game in question is Asobo Entertainment and Focus Entertainment's A Plague Tale: Requiem, a sequel 2019's surprise hit, A Plague Tale: Innocence. Released on October 17, it boats an 85 on Metacritic and was notably nominated for Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2022.

"Far across the sea, an island calls... Embark on a heartrending journey into a brutal, breathtaking world twisted by supernatural forces," reads an official blurb about the game. "After escaping their devastated homeland, Amicia and Hugo travel far south, to new regions and vibrant cities. There, they attempt to start a new life and control Hugo's curse. But, when Hugo's powers reawaken, death and destruction return in a flood of devouring rats. Forced to flee once more, the siblings place their hopes in a prophesized island that may hold the key to saving Hugo. Discover the cost of saving those you love in a desperate struggle for survival. Strike from the shadows or unleash hell, overcoming foes and challenges with a variety of weapons, tools and unearthly powers."

"Even though it's not without some faults, A Plague Tale: Requiem is likely one of the better games I have played this year," reads a snippet of our review of the game. In a time where story-driven action games are starting to become more sparse, Asobo continues to prove with Requiem that it's very much capable of assisting with carrying the torch within this genre. I'm not sure if we'll see future Plague Tale titles come about in the future, but given the leap that has been seen with Requiem, I'm definitely hoping that this isn't Asobo's final outing in this space."

This is a limited-time deal, but how limited this window is, we don't know. GameStop doesn't provide this information. It's possible it will be available for 24 hours, a week, or even longer. We don't know, but at the moment of writing this, it's still available with shipping as an option.

Todd McFarlane revealed some new additions to his hit DC Multiverse line of action figures at Toy Fair, including the entire line of figures from the infamous 1997 film Batman & Robin. McFarlane took a minute at Toy Fair to show off the new line, which includes Batman (George Clooney), Robin (Chris O'Donnell), Batgirl (Alicia Silverstone), and Poison Ivy (Uma Thurman). There is one more character in the set, and that would be Mr. Freeze himself Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is the set's Build-A-Figure. Freeze's legs are with Batman, while the arms and some feeze effects are with Robin. The chest and torso come with Ivy, and the head, shoulders, and blaster are included with Batgirl.

The likenesses overall are solid, with Batman and Freeze at the top overall. While the others don't look quite as close in likeness, they all boast great overall face sculpts. Each figure also comes with the usual trading card and figure base, but they don't seem to come with any individual accessories due to their inclusion of the Mr. Freeze figure.

McFarlane doesn't reveal a release date for the figures, but odds are we will see them hitting stores relatively soon, as McFarlane shows them all in packaging already and even says these are production figures. It also remains to be seen if McFarlane will also create a Batman Forever series down the line, though that probably depends on if these sell well.

At this point, you can almost get any major movie Batman in the Multiverse line, with Robert Pattinson, Ben Affleck, Christian Bale, and Michael Keaton all represented in some way or another. Val Kilmer is the only movie Batman who doesn't have a figure yet, and with the changed-up suit for Robin, Jim Carrey's Riddler, and Tommy Lee Jones's Two-Face, you could see getting a whole series based on that film. As for the Build-A-Figure, perhaps a Batman Forever-styled Batmobile would work.

This is actually the perfect time for a new action figure line from the film, as it became a popular topic once more after Clooney made a surprise cameo as Bruce Wayne in this year's The Flash. The film has become infamous for its shift from the films that preceded it, but in a previous interview with Empire, Schwarzenegger said he doesn't regret making the film in the least.

"In most cases I don't regret the movies that failed or were not as good," Schwarzenegger said. "It's always easy to be smug in hindsight, right?" Schwarzenegger continued, saying, "I don't regret it at all. I felt that the character was interesting and two movies before that one Joel Schumacher was at his height. So the decision-making process was not off. At the same time I was doing Eraser over there and Warner Bros. begged me to do the movie."

In a previous interview with Entertainment Tonight, Thurman also had great things to say about the experience. "That was a fantastic experience. I had to wear lots of rubber suits," Thurman said. "I did not have a rubber mask. I had my own face. But I had some rubber appliances on my face sometimes. That was about as much rubber as I've ever worked with, personally."

Todd McFarlane has been developing a new Spawn film for many, many years now. It has been a long process and one that has seen many different developments. McFarlane had previously intended to direct the film, but realized he wouldn't be able to secure the budget necessary from a studio as a first-time director. As of right now, Scott Silver, Malcolm Spellman and Matt Mixon are attached to write the screenplay. Silver is the most notable of the bunch having written Joker, 8 Mile, and The Fighter, but the script is currently on pause due to the writers' strike. We'll have to wait and see what comes of the film once the strikes resolve, but it does seem to be pretty far a long thanks to its writers and having already assembled a few A-list cast members.
